It's Never Too Cold for Shorts

Finally, a new post! I'm so annoyed with myself for not doing one sooner, but I'll get back on track again, promise! I've been meaning to do this post for a while, however the soggy weather ruined my plans more than once. But at long last the sun made an appearance, and so I took the opportunity to do an outfit post!

The weather's still chilly, so I layered up a bit today! The denim shirt was a recent find, hidden in the depths of the drawers, but I'll definitely be wearing it a lot now that it's been re-discovered. That's one of my favourite things to do at the moment- having a good old hunt through the various chest of drawers and wardrobes around the house, pulling out any bits or bobs that might come in handy, or simply clothes that I like!

Yes, I'm wearing my New Look creepers again, but they go with everything- I've even started to wear them to school! I've had them since mid-December and they still look almost new, one of my favourite (fairly) recent buys. The denim shirt and shorts are both from Topshop, my shoes are from New Look, and my white top is from H&M.

Drop Cookies with a Twist

Today I made drop cookies! However, I added an ingredient or two... nutmeg! Well, two teaspoons of nutmeg and one teaspoon of cinnamon. Still, they made all the difference to the taste- they added a warm, spicy, seasonal twist to the average sweet, doughy drop cookies.

I discovered this magic duo a few years ago during a miniature bake-off with my sister. She was working on something incredibly chocolatey and had plenty of experience when it came to baking, so I thought I was a sure loser. So I dug out our dog-eared cookbook and got out the basic ingredients, but I knew I had to do something special if I stood a chance of winning. I scanned our shelved and hand-grated nutmeg for all of ten minutes before my arm hurt, but my job was done. I added the nutmeg to the mix and found that when baked the cookies tasted amazing- a recipe that has stayed with me until today!

Mid-Winter in Cornwall

My first post of 2013! First of all I just want to thank all of you who are now following me, and who have left such lovely comments on my posts; it has really made my week!

Christmas may be over but the weather is still chilly, so I decided to wrap up warm today. Well, with the exception of my shorts and tights... oh well - I'm still fairly snug! My jumper and shoes are both from New Look. I buy a lot of my clothes there as my size can be a little awkward, and they've got a good teenage collection. My necklace is from Topshop. My sister bought it for me for my eleventh birthday because I was having an Alice in Wonderland tea party.

Just so you know, the New Years party went really well, with many a game of midnight Twister for the young-uns such as myself. My dress also went down well, despite a stain or two from the chocolate fountain - mine and my friends' domain for the evening! Hope you all have a lovely weekend, and happy twelfth night!

New Years Eve Outfits.

Today I'm doing my first outfit post, alongside my sister Megan. These are our outfits for our New Year's party, black and white themed (evidently). As a finale for 2012, we decided to do a double outfit post, so you can see what both of us will be wearing! Both my dress and my creeper shoes are from New Look, and the tights you can get hold of pretty much anywhere. Megan wore a dress from Dahlia with H&M heels. Happy New Year's Eve everyone!

Something's Brewing

Today I got a lovely surprise; on Christmas Day, my mum had forgotten to give me a present- a gorgeous, intricate, mis-matched vintage tea set! It consisted of two cups and saucers, two milk jugs and a teapot, all in (almost) perfect condition! They are lovely. I've wanted a new set for absolutely ages, and this was exactly what I was looking for. As soon as I got them, my mind just told me; "Blog. NOW." and so here they are!

I'd been wanting a new set because I had broken the majority of my old one.. not on purpose of course! Basically, I have a collection of glass jam jars on my dressing table containing a vast array of jewellery, hair ties and assorted nonsense. My tea set was also on my dressing table and as I was holding one jar upside-down in an attempt to reach a bobby pin or something, it slipped from my hand and crashed into my precious tea pot, a cup and a saucer. Keep in mind however, that this was a glass jar. And it was the only survivor of the wreckage. Pfft.

Boxing Day Cake Pops

Today I made cake pops with my sister, with a cake pop maker I got for Christmas. Decorating them proved to be messy work, resulting in routine hand washing, icing sugar everywhere and several of them not surviving, giving up and just falling down their sticks. But it was worth all the effort once they were in their pastel-coloured cups under a shower of pink sprinkles and being admired by family members. All in all, not a bad way to spend boxing day!

I'm looking forward to using it in the near future and trying out different recipes (I've got my mind set on a triple chocolate concoction), however we're trying to figure out a method of decorating without wrecking the kitchen!
