A Stormy Morning by the Sea

Hello! Today we trekked down to our local and favourite beach, Kynance Cove. The weather decided to take a break from being its usual mid-winter stormy self, so we took the opportunity to explore the recently exposed rocks that would usually be buried in sand. Due to aggressive weather, the sea had pulled away and drained the usually golden beach of all sand- a sad sight, but extremely interesting to explore! We didn't spend much time down in the little cove (it was bitingly cold!) but I managed to snap a few outfit photos before wrapping myself back up in an assortment of woolly layers!

I wore a gorgeous denim pinafore from Primark, a cropped t-shirt from Topshop and patent white shoes from New Look. I am also wearing an assortment of vintage, Topshop and New Look rings.

'Tis The Season To Be Baking

Hello! It's the beginning of December, and, as such, the beginning of mince pie baking. This batch turned out a little different than usual, but after having been victim to a heavy dose of icing sugar and presented on a pretty Christmas plate, my First Mince Pies Of December could be called home-made. After all, they tasted delicious! My aim this December is to make at least one batch a week, as I find the process quite stress-relieving and it's definitely worth it for the end result; getting to eat them.
Due to lack of time, I cheated a little and used ready-made pastry- sorry! Once rolled out and cut into scallop-edged circles, I shaped the bases in the deep-set tray and filled with mincemeat. However, to add flavour, I mixed a little orange zest into the mincemeat before spooning it into the bases. I settled for the classic circular tops (I'll experiment with stars next week!) and glazed with beaten egg before popping into the oven. Always the signal of the start of Christmas Season!

A Day in The Sun

Hi everyone! I got a new camera for my fourteenth birthday (on the 10th of July) and it got me really excited about throwing myself back into blogging!

To celebrate the start of the Summer holidays, my family and I went to a local adventure park, where we spent the day lounging around in the sun eating various sweet treats such as candyfloss, ice-cream and doughnuts. It was a gorgeous sunny day (one of very few since the heatwave ended in Cornwall) so I thought I'd take some outfit photos; I'd been given some Topshop vouchers for my birthday, so I splurged on a pair of adorable dungarees and a lovely cream lace top. They worked really well together and were also comfy and easy to move in- which came in very handy when going on rides and walking around the park! The socks are also from Topshop and the shoes are from New Look. A great start to the Summer holidays!

It's Never Too Cold for Shorts

Finally, a new post! I'm so annoyed with myself for not doing one sooner, but I'll get back on track again, promise! I've been meaning to do this post for a while, however the soggy weather ruined my plans more than once. But at long last the sun made an appearance, and so I took the opportunity to do an outfit post!

The weather's still chilly, so I layered up a bit today! The denim shirt was a recent find, hidden in the depths of the drawers, but I'll definitely be wearing it a lot now that it's been re-discovered. That's one of my favourite things to do at the moment- having a good old hunt through the various chest of drawers and wardrobes around the house, pulling out any bits or bobs that might come in handy, or simply clothes that I like!

Yes, I'm wearing my New Look creepers again, but they go with everything- I've even started to wear them to school! I've had them since mid-December and they still look almost new, one of my favourite (fairly) recent buys. The denim shirt and shorts are both from Topshop, my shoes are from New Look, and my white top is from H&M.

Drop Cookies with a Twist

Today I made drop cookies! However, I added an ingredient or two... nutmeg! Well, two teaspoons of nutmeg and one teaspoon of cinnamon. Still, they made all the difference to the taste- they added a warm, spicy, seasonal twist to the average sweet, doughy drop cookies.

I discovered this magic duo a few years ago during a miniature bake-off with my sister. She was working on something incredibly chocolatey and had plenty of experience when it came to baking, so I thought I was a sure loser. So I dug out our dog-eared cookbook and got out the basic ingredients, but I knew I had to do something special if I stood a chance of winning. I scanned our shelved and hand-grated nutmeg for all of ten minutes before my arm hurt, but my job was done. I added the nutmeg to the mix and found that when baked the cookies tasted amazing- a recipe that has stayed with me until today!

Mid-Winter in Cornwall

My first post of 2013! First of all I just want to thank all of you who are now following me, and who have left such lovely comments on my posts; it has really made my week!

Christmas may be over but the weather is still chilly, so I decided to wrap up warm today. Well, with the exception of my shorts and tights... oh well - I'm still fairly snug! My jumper and shoes are both from New Look. I buy a lot of my clothes there as my size can be a little awkward, and they've got a good teenage collection. My necklace is from Topshop. My sister bought it for me for my eleventh birthday because I was having an Alice in Wonderland tea party.

Just so you know, the New Years party went really well, with many a game of midnight Twister for the young-uns such as myself. My dress also went down well, despite a stain or two from the chocolate fountain - mine and my friends' domain for the evening! Hope you all have a lovely weekend, and happy twelfth night!

New Years Eve Outfits.

Today I'm doing my first outfit post, alongside my sister Megan. These are our outfits for our New Year's party, black and white themed (evidently). As a finale for 2012, we decided to do a double outfit post, so you can see what both of us will be wearing! Both my dress and my creeper shoes are from New Look, and the tights you can get hold of pretty much anywhere. Megan wore a dress from Dahlia with H&M heels. Happy New Year's Eve everyone!
